DSLR/Mirrorless Camera

You'll need the full power and creative control of a Digital SLR/Mirrorless Camera to get the most out of your experience on this workshop!

A shutter release allows you to take photos without touching the camera. This helps ensure a sharp photographs for longer exposures.

WIDE ANGLE
TELEPHOTO LENS
*required
It is a good idea to bring a wide angle lens get as much beauty in one shot as you can. As well as a telephoto lens for long-lens landscapes.

EXTRA BATTERIES
*required
It is always a good idea to have a few extra batteries on hand. Batteries die faster when using LiveView and in colder temps during the morning.

TRIPOD
*required
A tripod is a must when shooting sunrise/sunset and night photography. You will be using longer exposures and you will not be able to handhold the camera.

NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTERS
*optional
ND Filters and Graduated ND Filters are good to have as they help control the light in camera. Dani can assist with any questions you may have.

We are open year round but are closed Dec 24, 25, 26 & 31st as well as Jan 1st and Jan 15 & 16th every year.
Transportation

Transportation may be provided while on photo workshop/tour for those traveling without a rental vehicle at no additional charge. Please ask for more details.

Transportation will NOT be provided to Banff National Park or Canmore. Please arrange your own transportation.

Please note: If you require transportation, Dani's vehicle is her personal vehicle and is pet friendly. Dani's dog Tuzo attends most workshops/tours.
Clarifications
-
A non-photographing friend of spouse means that private workshops/tours prices are based on one person, but we do encourage clients to bring their spouse or friends to enjoy the amazing scenery. They are welcome to use their phones or cameras to take photographs themselves but the guiding and teaching will be concentrated on the main photographing client.

Individuals under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

These workshops/tours are not recommended for children. If a child under the age of 12 are attending, an adult other then the photographing client must be present.
Cancellation Policy

Full payment is required upon booking. Cancellations will be accepted 7 days prior to reserved date.

A 30% booking deposit is non-refundable.

Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made later then 7 days prior to private photo tour or photo workshop date.

In the event of severe weather, workshops and tours may be most ponded without notice if an instructor is unable to attend.

In the event we have to cancel a workshop, participants will be given the option to reschedule to a later date or receive a full refund. We are not, however, liable for expenses incurred such as airfare or accommodations. We recommend the purchase of trip insurance.

NEWFOUNDLAND 2022
ITINERARY
Day 1 - May 29, 2022
HOTEL: Sandman Signature St. John’s - 227 Kenmount Rd (Google Maps)
Sunrise: 5:09am
Sunset: 8:47pm
1:00pm - Meet at the hotel parking area. (I will ask for an early check in for those that need it.)
From there we will make our way to the Cape Spear area for some afternoon shooting and scouting for our sunrise the following morning. (Google maps)
4:00pm - Early dinner (Moxie’s in our hotel)
5:30pm - We will head to the town of Pouch Cove and then down to Cape St. Francis Lighthouse and Biscayan Cove. (This area has become a little tradition for me when visiting Newfoundland. It is the very first place I visit. It's wild and dramatic. We will stay here for sunset. (Google Maps)
9:00pm - Head back to the hotel.
Day 2 - May 30, 2022
HOTEL: Seaport Inn - 127 Discovery Trail, Trinity Bay North (Google Maps)
Sunrise: 5:08am
Sunset: 8:48pm
3:30am - Meet at our vehicles and head to Cape Spear for sunrise. (Google Maps)
6:30/7:00am - Breakfast at the Denny’s in the Sandman Signature hotel
(You can use the time between breakfast and check out to do some shopping for snacks to keep in the vehicle in case we are traveling during lunch time)
9:00am - Check out of the hotel.
9:15am - head out to Grates Cove (Google Maps)
We may make some stops on the way there. We will have our fingers crossed for some icebergs for shots along the cliffs and the quaint town.
12:30pm - Head to Dildo, NL (Google Maps)
Quick visit of the area
4:30pm - Arrive at Seaport Inn hotel. Check in and have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. (I will be having the Cod Nuggets here as it's my favourite. They have great food!)
6:00pm - Head down to Bonavista for sunset.
(Day 2 is going to be a long day)
Day 3 - May 31, 2022
HOTEL: Seaport Inn

Breakfast: At the Hotel
Zodiac Iceberg tour: This tour is weather dependent so I do not have a start time for this just yet. I am hoping it will be a go ahead for an early morning sail or it may be a late evening sail.
Since we will be moving the schedule around the boat trip, we will spend the other part of the day at Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, Dungeon Provincial Park and Elliston for a chance to see Puffins (Google Maps)
This day will be a bit of a relax since the schedule is fluid. There will be time for an afternoon nap.
Dinner: at the hotel
Day 4 - June 1, 2022
HOTEL: Toulinguet Inn - 56 Main Street, Twillingate (Google Maps)
Sunrise: 5:07am
Sunset: 8:50pm
(This morning is a backup in case the weather on the 31st isn’t good for the boat tour. The things we do in the morning on this day may be shifted to the previous day if needed)
3:00am - Sunrise in the Bonavista area. Take the scenic route back to the hotel for breakfast.
7:00am - Breakfast at the hotel.
9:00am - Check out of the hotel.
9:15am - Head to King’s Cove, Keels and then on to Twillingate (Google Maps)
4:00pm - Check into Toulinguet Inn Hotel.
4:30pm - Dinner in town.
7:30pm - Sunset in the Twillingate area.
Day 5 - June 2, 2022

4:30pm - Check into Burnt Cape Cabins.
5:00pm - Dinner at the restaurant next to the cabins.
(If you like seafood this will be the place you will love. The last time I was here the chef left the building and went right to the water to get the food that you ordered so it's extremely fresh.)
8:00pm - Possible sunset if it looks promising, however we can shoot it from our cabins.
Day 7 - June 4, 2022
